Hello! My name is Kailee, Kail, or Ms. Groveman. Whatever walk of life that you know me from, I welcome you to this space with open arms.

As with most people, finding my path was not easy. I spent years feeling lost, confused and unaware of what direction I wanted to go in life. It wasn't until the road trip of a lifetime that I discovered that I not only wanted to pursue higher education but I also wanted to pursue a career in teaching.

After a long and strenuous journey I have made it to my final semester of coursework and last semester of student teaching. Throughout my experience in school I have learned what it means to be dedicated, determined and disciplined.

Last spring I taught 7th grade English in Winnetka, CA. This fall I have the opportunity to teach 10th grade English in Sun Valley, CA and I am excited to learn more about having a career in education.

It is to no surprise that media technology has now become a necessity in the classroom. From both a student and teacher’s perspective I believe that it is now an essential part of education. Having access to technology in the classroom provides students with opportunities to expand their knowledge through multiple forms of media. Access to technology provides a more hands on learning experience with real world applications. Using platforms such as Pear Deck enhances the learning experience by providing real time feedback and a collaborative learning experience.

In contrast with the positives of utilizing technology in the classroom there are also downfalls. The biggest setback being distractions. With the world literally at our fingertips the number of distractions are also there. This is why it is important to monitor students’ use of technology with platforms such as Go Guardian. Without limits to media usage, there are risks to a number of distractions.
